Salary Range: $90,911 to $140,070 (includes pro-rata compensation for ten (10) required additional service days).

Job Description

Basic Function: We seek an innovative, collaborative, and highly motivated individual to serve as the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Librarian. The ideal candidate will share the College's commitment to serving a diverse community of learners and promoting an inclusive, equity-focused environment. The DEIA Librarian will provide a leadership role for the library's ongoing efforts to develop strategies to build awareness, knowledge, and skills across the organization in diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

The candidate will also ensure that the library's services, collections, and resources reflect our commitment to diversity and equity. Responsibilities will include reference services, collection development, library instruction, and teaching library courses.

Education: American Library Association (ALA) accredited master's degree in Library Science or Library Information Science, or an equivalent advanced degree.

Experience: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience in face-to-face and virtual librarian duties including reference, collection development and maintenance, and library instruction.
  2. Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively to promote teamwork, diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.
  3. Knowledge or experience in best practices related to the adoption, adaptation, and creation of OERs.
  4. Willingness to examine and adapt relational and instructional practices to engage and support various groups of marginalized students.
  5. Recent experience working with historically underserved students in the classroom.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  7. Proficiency with newer technologies related to academic libraries.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Completion of the Creative Commons certificate course.
  2. Experience in education and instructional design using an LMS system.
  3. Demonstrated experience leading successful initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
  4. Spanish language fluency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Represent the library in campus equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.
  2. Identify and pursue opportunities for the RCC Library to support education and cultural transformation.
  3. Engage with colleagues across RCC in advancing strategies for an inclusive library climate.
  4. Contribute to training and organizational development activities.
  5. Ensure that the library's services, collections, programs, and resources are developed and maintained with a focus on equity and inclusiveness.

Conditions of Employment:

  1. Ten-month, tenure-track position.
  2. Salary is commensurate with academic preparation and experience.
