POSITION : Circulation Assistant LOCATION: The Library Station - 2535 N Kansas Expressway - Springfield, MO Classification: Part Time Salary Track: Library Worker II FLSA Status: Non-Exempt PAY RATE: $14.34 per hour APPLICATION DEADLINE: Until Filled This is a part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week. The Library Station is open Monday through Thursday 8:30-9:00, Friday 8:30-8:00, Saturday 8:30-7:00 and Sunday 10:00-6:00. Preferred availability includes primarily weekends. As a condition of employment, work schedules may change as necessary to best provide user services and to meet the Librarys responsibility to the citizens of Greene County. EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Position Summary The Circulation Assistant plays a key role in supporting the operations of the circulation desk and ensuring the smooth borrowing and returning of library materials. Responsibilities include checking materials in and out, issuing library cards, and assisting patrons with account inquiries. The assistant may also help to shelve materials, manage holds and reserves, and provide basic reference and reader's advisory services. Additionally, they may assist with maintaining the organization and cleanliness of library spacesand supporting interlibrary loan services and other circulation-related tasks. Strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in library systems and procedures are essential for success in this role. Essential Functions Routinely checks-in, checks-out and renews library materials Registers patrons for library cards, voter registration and other library functions Assists patrons with directional information Collects overdue fines, book deposits and other fees, makes change, and issues receipts Performs routine computer searches, data entry Operates multi-line telephone switchboard and intercom answering and directing calls including high volume telephone communication with public Routinely files and shelves Checks-in newspapers, magazines and sorts branch mail Performs light copy machine maintenance Prepares daily deposits of moneys collected by branch Handles departmental problems in absence of supervisor Assists with other related departmental duties as assigned Assists other departments as needed Performs essential functions during high patron volume Interprets and implements the Librarys General Conduct Policy Timeliness: The employee must be punctual and timely in arriving to work and completing tasks.
