The Department of English at the University of Florida invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position to teach in the B.A. and Ph.D. programs in the field of Latinx literary and cultural studies, beginning August 16, 2025. UF is a major, comprehensive, land-grant, research university. The normal teaching assignment is two courses per semester.
We welcome applications from all candidates with records of publication and teaching in the field. We are interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community. The successful candidate must be able to work with students, faculty, and staff from a range of social and cultural backgrounds.
Areas of Specialization
We especially welcome applications from candidates whose study of literatures, cultures, and rhetorics is intersectional and interdisciplinary, with areas of specialization that include—but are not limited to—Afro-Latinidad, Critical Latinx Indigeneities, Latinidad/Chicanidad and Digital Humanities, and Latinidad/Chicanidad and Environmental Humanities. Within these areas, we are particularly interested in work that attends to questions of race, gender and sexuality, feminism, class, labor theory, politics, migration, (de)coloniality, settler colonialism, border theory, and performance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching small, large, and online undergraduate and/or graduate classes.

After initial review, writing samples will be requested of selected applicants, as well as letters of recommendation from their references.
