Save Job

Our work spans many layers of the software stack, from the user interface elements of video players all the way down to the firmware that controls the decoding hardware. We are currently looking for an engineer to perform specialized work in the low-level part of this multimedia stack in areas like kernel drivers, v4l2 and/or Vulkan. As a member of our team, you would be responsible for the development and maintenance of kernel modules and intermediate APIs to drive different camera hardware.

Since we often communicate with clients and also must interact with the rest of our geographically-distributed company, we rely on people with good communication skills. We are constantly learning from one another by engaging in internal discussions, so clear explanations of technical ideas are essential. In tandem with communication skills, we are also looking for people ready to iterate constructively during code reviews. Due to the distributed nature of the team and the company, being self-directed and self-motivated is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Development and maintenance of kernel modules
  • Creating intermediate APIs for different camera hardware

Work Environment

We provide a remote-friendly, collaborative, and supportive environment in which Igalians from around the globe participate equally in the management and decision-making process of the company via our democratic, consensus-based assembly structure.

Benefits

  • Annual company-wide retreats to foster in-person connections and team integration
  • Budget for co-working space or home office setup
  • 8 weeks of paid parental leave for new parents
  • Recurring budget for work-related equipment
  • Flexible work schedule
  • 7 weeks (35 days) of paid time off
  • Mentorship for new employees
