Music Director for Saturday evening service Messiah Lutheran Church Job at Alcm

Mid-sized Lutheran ELCA congregation seeks an experienced and inspired musician to lead music for Saturday worship, which is presently twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays at 5:30 p.m.

This is a part-time position that consists of selecting music that ties into the liturgical church year and scripture readings for the day. We are looking for music chosen that has lyrics with substance and music aligned with our Lutheran theology. Most music should be singable by worshipers, although occasionally a selection may be offered as a band solo.

Other Duties:

1. Emailing music to band members
2. Preparing worship music folder for band members
3. Rehearsing (right now that is on Saturday 1-1 1/2 hours before the service)
4. Communicate regularly with Senior and Associate Pastor, and as necessary with the Coordinator of Music
5. File all appropriate copyright information with licensing agencies

Qualifications: Keyboard (piano) preferred, vocal skills required.
