Available Positions:
- Director of Choral and Instrumental Ensembles – Lead, coordinate, and direct the choir and all vocal and instrumental ministries of the church for all ages. This part-time role (approx. 15 hours per week) requires a skilled choral conductor with previous experience. Twelve month salary: $20,000-25,000. Four weeks vacation or continuing education.
- Worship Accompanist/Organist – Provide instrumental accompaniment for the congregation and choirs on organ and piano. This part-time role (approx. 15 hours per week during the programming year and 5 hours per week during June and July) requires previous experience in music ministry. Twelve-month salary: $15,000-20,000. Four weeks vacation or continuing education.
- Director of Handbell Choir – Lead, coordinate, and direct the Handbell Choir. This part-time role (approx. 5 hours per week from August 1 through May 31) requires previous experience. Ten-month stipend: $5,000.
- Director of Musical Outreach – Plan and coordinate the Concert Series and work with the Outreach Team for recruitment of talent and supervision of all musical activities. Annual Stipend: $2,000.
- Director of Music and Organist – A FULL-time position that combines the various activities listed above with additional benefits and a commensurate salary.
Peace is a growing, intergenerational congregation of 350 participants, celebrating 15 years of joyful and energized ministry. Music is integral to the church’s development, embracing a diversity of musical styles. The congregation enjoys various musical forms, including classical music, hymns, gospel, and contemporary pieces. We value youth participation and have a strong choir and handbell group.
The Directors are accountable to the Pastor and collaborate with the Worship & Music Team and Outreach Team.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Promote and encourage youth participation in liturgy and music.
- Encourage, plan, and support drama groups as they participate in worship.
- Communicate well with music groups to encourage participation.
- Provide compassionate care for all members, especially in music groups.
- Plan enjoyable rehearsals for musicians of all ability levels.
- Support participants in improving their musical abilities.
- Manage the music budget responsibly.
- Maintain music library and equipment, ensuring licensing is up-to-date.
- Communicate with the congregation via newsletters and bulletins.
- Proof bulletins and presentations for accuracy of musical elements.
Qualifications & Skills:
- B.A. degree in music, M.A. preferred
- Proficient in piano and organ (preferred)
- Proficient in directing groups of various skills
- Experience with handbell choir and music orchestrations (preferred)
- Experience with computers and social media a plus
- Experience working with volunteers of varying age, talent, and commitment levels
