Under the direction of the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, the Manager of Nursing Administration manages the nursing administration operations. Responsibilities include overseeing the Administrative Coordinators, Staffing Office and Float Unit staffing (Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and Patient Safety Aids). The Manager serves as a professional clinical role model for patient care and assists other professionals in their development. Demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the Nursing Administration staff, organization, and applies good verbal and non-verbal skills to achieve service goals of customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accountable for performance improvement activities through orientation, education, quality control, and planning.
- Accountable to the ACNO/CNO for overall work performance.
- Coordinates operations of assigned areas (budget, regulatory compliance, and resource utilization).
- Demonstrates clinical performance in the department, acting as a clinical resource.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills and ability to consistently meet customer service standards.
- Displays a professional commitment to the organization, supporting the unit team and promoting unity, teamwork, collaboration interdepartmentally through positive working relationships.
- Ensures that the clinical aspects of patient care services are met (staffing, workflow, resources availability).
- Identifies and provides for staff development.
- Manages human resources effectively (interview, hire, counsel, evaluation, assist with terminations, decrease vacancies and turnover).
- Investigates and follows up with Midas events.
- Maintains knowledge of established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, thereby improving organizational performance, infection control, and safety standards. Develops new policies and procedures or modifies existing policies and procedures for implementation as needed.
- Participates in the department educational program and in-service meetings.
- Ensure that vendor contracts for all clinical services are compliant with required competencies, performance standards, performance improvement, and policy updates.
- Works collaboratively with HR on university and vendor contracts.
- Responsible for appropriate understanding and participation in the organization-wide Performance Improvement Program through orientation, education, departmental and interdepartmental quality control, performance improvement, and quality planning activities.
- Supervises staff in all assigned areas of responsibility. Schedules all subordinate staff to ensure uniform, adequate coverage without the use of overtime, bonus time and/or registry use unless absolutely needed.
- Morgue oversight/coordination.
- Works collaboratively with ancillary departments to coordinate patient safety.
- Collaborates and coordinates with Nursing Schools for Clinical Rotations, and vendor contracts in relation to clinical care.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
Minimum (Required): Bachelor’s in nursingPreferred (Not required): Master’s in nursing
Work Experience
Minimum (Required):- 2 years of experience in a manager role.
- 3 years of experience in Administrative Coordinator/House Supervisor.
Licenses and Certifications
Minimum (Required):- Arrhythmia certification is required.
- Must successfully complete and maintain ACLS certification.
- Must successfully complete and maintain BLS certification.
- MAB Certification. New hires must obtain within 6 months of hire.
