Senior UI/UX Designer

UI/UX Designer role to the team

Responsibilities:

1. Participate in user research and testing, including user interviews, surveys, and usability testing, alongside the User Research team, to gain insights, understand behaviors and preferences that support improvements.
2. Analyze qualitative and quantitative findings and translate into actionable designs that improve user experience.
3. Identify and define user personas, user flows, and journey maps to inform and support design decisions.
4. Formulate clear strategies for components, sections, and journeys based on research and analysis.
5. Create wireframes, prototypes, and interactive mock-ups to effectively communicate design concepts and user interactions.
6. Demonstrate knowledge and/or experience with Design Thinking.
7. Provide UX and UI evaluations of Viking’s existing and new web-based products.
8. Develop information architecture, navigation models, and interaction models that align with user needs and business goals.
9. Collaborate with development teams to ensure feasibility and implementation of design concepts.
10. Demonstrate an ability to come up with innovative ideas, solve problems creatively, and shape these into visually compelling, aesthetically pleasing, and intuitive user interfaces that center around customer needs.
11. Complete UX design work that adheres to best practice, based on brand guidelines and design systems.
12. Create high-fidelity UI designs, including layouts, typography, color schemes, and iconography.
13. Expand on Viking’s Design System by improving or adding components, and clearly documenting.
14. Support an agile design delivery process alongside Product Owners, Business Analysts, Front & Back-End Web Developers, Marketing, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate implementation of designs and maintain design consistency throughout the product lifecycle.
15. Put together the UX/UI storyboard, alongside the wider team.
16. Conduct usability tests and gather user feedback to validate design decisions and identify areas for improvement.
17. Iterate and refine designs based on user feedback, usability findings, and data-driven insights.
18. Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging UX/UI technology trends.

Mandatory Skills Description:

1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required.
2. 3+ years of relevant experience in UI and interaction design for enterprise level web and mobile products in an eCommerce environment.
3. Strong background and constantly up-to-speed on current UX/UI principles and best practices.
4. Superb communication and social skills to convey design concepts clearly across the organization.
5. Proven ability of capturing business requirements and objectives, successfully translating them into designs that meet customer needs.
6. Confidence working on complex web applications with B2B and B2C focused product UX/UI.
7. Experience developing platform agnostic and responsive product interfaces.
8. Familiar with HTML, CSS, JavaScript concepts and modern browser capabilities.
9. Experience iterating fast in creating low fidelity design to solve customer needs.
10. Ability to translate low fidelity design to interactive prototype in design tools.
11. Extensive experience in designing rich user experience for financial data and workflow.
12. Experience creating visual and design for presentation, banner, and system diagrams.
13. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and deadlines.
14. Familiarity with a variety of user research techniques.
15. Experience working in an agile delivery environment alongside web development teams, and in a highly collaborative manner.
16. Strong working knowledge of tools such as Sketch, Abstract, Miro, Figma, and associated design and wire-framing tools.
17. Demonstrable UX skills with a strong portfolio demonstrating wireframes, user flows, and research.
18. Knowledge of design frameworks such as Bootstrap.
19. A pro-active, determined person, with a desire to work within a cross-functional team.
20. Fluent knowledge of English, spoken and written.

Nice-to-Have Skills:
