We are seeking a passionate Senior UX Lead to support our Space customer. This position supports the Space Portfolio’s mission to design and deliver intuitive, mission-critical user experiences for defense and aerospace systems. The Senior UX Lead will drive human-centered design (HCD) practices, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver innovative solutions that align with program goals and user needs. This role ensures that end-user satisfaction, usability, and accessibility are embedded throughout the lifecycle of the program.

What you will do:

  • Lead the UX design process, including research, concept development, prototyping, usability testing, and delivery of final designs.
  • Partner with program stakeholders, engineers, and developers to create user-centered designs that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Advocate for human-centered design principles across the organization and ensure alignment with program goals.
  • Oversee and conduct UX research activities, including user interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability testing.
  • Translate user insights into wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using industry-standard tools.
  • Establish and maintain UX standards, design systems, and style guides to ensure consistency across platforms.
  • Mentor and guide junior UX designers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Present design concepts and solutions to stakeholders, customers, and leadership for feedback and approval.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of UX solutions post-deployment, iterating to improve usability and satisfaction.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Security Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance required; Top Secret/SCI eligibility is preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in human-computer interaction (HCI), design, psychology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 10 years of UX design experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
    • Strong portfolio showcasing experience in designing complex systems, preferably in defense or aerospace.
    • Proficiency with UX design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or Axure.
    • Experience working in Agile and DevSecOps environments.
    • Knowledge of accessibility standards, such as WCAG, and their application in designs.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a user-first mindset.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills to convey complex design concepts to diverse audiences.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
    • A passion for mentoring and developing design talent.
  • Travel: 10%

Desired Skills:

  • Certification in UX/UI Design or Human-Centered Design (e.g., NN/g, IDEO).
  • Experience with defense or aerospace systems and understanding of operational environments.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies such as AR/VR, AI, and voice interfaces.
  • Strong knowledge of front-end development principles and tools for effective collaboration with development teams.
