Purpose of the Senior Manager, Grant Writing Role:
The Senior Manager, Grant Writing ensures annual fundraising goals for foundation, corporate, government and capital grants and is responsible for proposal submission, contract negotiation, reporting and maintaining and building relationships with a wide variety of funders including Government, Foundation, and Corporations. The Senior Manager, Grant Writing is part of NDI New Mexico's administrative staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
Grants Management
- Develops the grants schedule and calendar and delegates specific activities and areas of responsibility to the grants manager including primary contact, writing assignments, budget development, reporting, cultivation and maintaining databases.
- Writes and submits 60-75 grant applications to foundations, corporations, government entities and other associations or organizations per year.
- Writes 45-50 reports per year to foundations, corporations and government entities.
- Writes grants, successfully obtaining funds and acknowledging funds 24-48 hours within receipt of funds.
- Writes mid-year and final reports to grant funders as appropriate.
- Builds relationships with current funders by personal contact, site visits, and event invitations.
- Identifies new funding sources and builds those relationships with assistance from other staff as appropriate.
- Meets regularly and works with the Director of Finance and Administration to ensure accurate and timely reporting of grants, timely invoicing, and compliance.
- Manages Grants Manager and any contract grant writers including their performance evaluations, goal setting and accuracy of work.
Public Funding
- Builds and improves NDI New Mexico's relationships with government agencies.
- Works with government agencies to negotiate contracts for services including deliverables, and draw down of funds (in coordination with NDI New Mexico's Director of Finance and Administration).
- Responsible for responding to RFPs that would be appropriate for NDI New Mexico.
- Responsible for communicating with and involving the Executive Director, Senior Development staff, and Public Funding Committee as appropriate and necessary (i.e., information for legislative session).
Other

Working Conditions, Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Functions performed in a variety of environments including: NDI New Mexico offices, schools, residency sites, and other locations.
- Requires reliable transportation and reimbursable in-state travel to NDI New Mexico locations, participating schools, residency sites, and community events.
- Requires weekend and evening hours.
- May be required to lift up to 10 lbs.
- May be required to navigate stairs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Job Specific Requirements:
- BA in English, Communications, Non-profit, Humanities or related field, preferred.
- 5 years proven experience in grant writing and public funding.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, Teams or other cloud-based platform, and Salesforce.
- Ability to cultivate new funding sources.
- Management experience and supervision skills.
- Solves problems by identifying causes, gathering and processing relevant information, generating possible solutions, making recommendations, and finding resolutions and solutions.
