Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, the Associate Director, Corporate Communications will lead the development of strategic corporate communications and events. This position will help develop the organizational narrative and programs and will be responsible for directing internal communications and overall corporate communications processes, strategy, editorial style guide, campaigns, and events.

As Associate Director, Corporate Communications & Events, you will:

  • Support the creation of the long term GTAA and airport employee communications strategy
  • Align employee communications across the GTAA and Toronto Pearson
  • Work with key airport partners to develop GTAA employee social media policy strategy for all employees and the governance of GTAA employee social media channels
  • Develop and implement a long-term airport employee Digital Communication Strategy for Toronto Pearson, ensuring that the airport has the channels and tools in place to support future programming
  • Develop strategic themes and messaging for communications with respect to Toronto Pearson employees, partners, and executives
  • Develop key Safety communications and campaigns to improve the safety index
  • Partner with the President and CEO office, and other key internal partners to develop strategic themes and messaging for communications with respect to Toronto Pearson, employees, partners, and executives
  • Lead the development of the annual report and support the development of quarterly financial releases.
  • Manage the development of GTAA employee print communications (including newsletters) and electronic communications (including the GTAA Employee Intranet and Digital Sign network)
  • Serve as a spokesperson and lead point person on internal communications interactions with the greater airport community that help promote and/or impact the organization
  • Liaise with other international airports globally to identify the best methods within the aviation industry
  • Lead the development of airport employee print communications (Inside Pearson, IATP)
  • Perform time critical responsibilities including the development of internal crisis communications
  • Develop and implement integrated strategic reputational strategies to advance Toronto Pearson's brand identity and reputation
  • Develop and lead the corporate communication process and channels
  • Oversee the strategic direction for all events
  • Model the GTAA leadership behaviours to support and further the business' vision through building and development of diverse, multi-skilled team
  • Coach, mentor and develop individuals and teams to rise to their full potential while providing timely, constructive and consistent feedback and personal development opportunities


This is a chance to be on the frontline of history at Toronto Pearson. To do so, you will bring:

  • Bachelor Degree in Communications, Marketing or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years in the field of Corporate Communications and/or Internal Communications
  • 6+ years of people management experience
  • Proven communications experience preferably with leading a large team in a customer service centric organization or agency.
  • IABC or APR designation would be considered an asset
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License
  • Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance
