Seeking candidates for full-time music ministry who have a passion for music in worship. Our goal is to draw the assembly deeper into a prayerful encounter with God through liturgy. The music minister will continue to develop a music ministry consisting of choirs, instrumentalists, cantors, and a very strong singing assembly. The music ministry currently employs all genres of liturgical music as appropriate for Mass, season, ensemble, as well as some praise and worship.
Start date: January 3, 2023
Responsibilities:
- Plan, select, and prepare music for three weekend liturgies, holy days, three weekdays, weddings, funerals, and periodic seasonal services. Expected to play and lead the liturgical assembly at these liturgies or provide suitable coverage.
- Recruit, prepare, train, and direct rehearsals for adult choir, bell choir, cantors, and instrumentalists according to liturgy scheduling.
- Enlist and coordinate additional musicians for weddings, funerals, and special occasions as needed.
- Expand parish liturgical music repertoire – teaching hymns and mass settings as necessary to continue to grow full conscious and active participation of the assembly.
- Rehearse and prepare all ensembles and cantors for weekend liturgies.
- Continue to develop the choral program, hand bell program, and singing assembly.
- Organize and maintain the rehearsal area, music library, and music spaces.
- Maintain and facilitate maintenance and repairs of musical equipment (pianos, organs, handbells, sound/video systems).
- Foster positive public relations in and outside the parish.
- Participate in Archdiocesan/National (AOD, NPM, AGO, FDLC) Workshops and programs as directed or interested.
- Participate in Leadership Staff meetings; develop, form, and consult with Worship Commission; communicate occasionally on any and all parish media sites.
- Update hymnals, worship aids/booklets as necessary; renew licenses, etc.; maintain a log of music selections used for worship for future reference and understanding.

Position Qualifications:
- Degree or minor in music with proficiency in transposition and liturgical improvisation; 3 years experience preferred.
- Demonstrated abilities in the following: pipe organ and excellent keyboard skills, vocal technique, choral conducting, and music technological operations/maintenance.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational skills; ability to serve collaboratively with Parish Leadership Staff.
- Practicing Catholic with demonstrated knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy, role of music within the liturgy, familiarity with liturgical documents, the various rites and music resources, the Roman Missal and Lectionary.
- Maintains the highest level of confidentiality regarding parish and parishioner information/matters.
