Description
Design and lays out all Western Publications. Routes agency and out-of-town ads through the advertising and graphics departments.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Designs and layouts out all Western Publications, maintaining proper percentages between advertising and editorial and profitability benchmarks for each edition
2. Uses our ad layout software to design all publications and run reports requested by the advertising department
3. Receives and places agency/out-of-town advertising into the paper.
4. Computes cost of advertising and takes payments from customers.
5. Has contact with customers on the phone in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring the highest level of customer service at all times.
6. Presents clear layouts to graphics department in order that customers receive the best placement within the newspaper.
7. Maintains a proper file for insertions and correspondence from each agency/customer.
8. Proofreads advertising for all publications when possible.
9. Proofs advertisements to customers requesting proofs.
10. Assists with advertising reports as assigned;
11. Prepares media packets for potential advertisers or sales reps.
12. Brings to the attention of the advertising manager problems that may occur so the problems may be handled in the best and proper manner.
13. Types a minimum of 50 words per minute accurately.
14. Has ability to lift 30 lbs.
15. Exceeds customer expectations. A customer is anyone who contributes directly or indirectly to the revenues of the organization.
16. Backup executive advertising assistant in scheduling of major local advertisers.
17. Cross trains with advertising assistant.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participates in company Hazard Communications program and follows all safety regulations.
2. Cross train on other jobs for back-up purposes as assigned.
3. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing any customer service related duties to the desired results as needed.
4. Performs other work related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Accounting experience a plus.
3. Excellent customer service skills required.
4. Detail oriented, strong organizational skills, flexibility and ability to work independently.
