Assists and supports management with the day-to-day activities for advertising. Ensures deadlines are met. Consistently projects a positive image with company values while representing WGCN & NHO. and WNI products and services in the community. Part time position.

Requirements:


1. Assists with the day-to-day administrative activities of the advertising department, including, but not limited to:

a. Maintaining advertising calendars.

b. Bringing to the attention of management any problems that occur in order that they may be handled in the best and proper manner.

c. Monitoring and completing insertion orders and scheduling of ads.

d. Serves as a liaison handling day-to-day correspondence for advertisers.

e. Makes trips to post office as needed.

f. Providing administrative assistance that permits advertising account executives to maximize selling time and direct customer contact.

2. Developing sales collateral and in-house promotional ads.

3. Markets and sells suite of advertising products and services by prospecting and acquiring new clients by making regular, timely inside sales calls on both established and prospective accounts.

4. Prepares and delivers (via email) sales presentations to new and existing clients.

5. Receives and places ads into WGCN, NHO and WNI publications.

6. Assists walk-in, display-advertising customers with placement and design of advertising.

7. Keeps informed of advertising and insert rates, policies and procedures of location publications.

8. Computes costs of advertising and takes payment from customer. Completes all paperwork accurately associated with placement and billing of advertising.

9. Attends sales staff meetings.

10. Covers vacant advertising sales territories during transitions, vacation or other absences.

11. Provides explicit instructions about ads while covering vacant territory to graphic designers.

12. May dummy the paper or design newspaper and on-line ads as needed.

13. Exceeds customer’s expectations in a courteous and professional manner. A customer is anyone who contributes directly or indirectly to the revenues of the organization.


Other Responsibilities:

1. Participates in company safety policies and procedures.

2. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing any customer service-related duties to the desired results as needed.

3. Cross trains in other jobs for back-up purposes and related duties as assigned by management.

4. If the essential functions of the position require the employee to drive, they must also provide and drive vehicle, possess a valid driver’s license and necessary amount of auto insurance.


Education, Experience and Skills Required

1. High school graduate or equivalent. College work in advertising, marketing or graphic design helpful.

2. Previous print or advertising sales experience preferred.

3. Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend basic instructions verbally and in writing.

4. Above average ability to work with the public.

5. Basic knowledge of office equipment including computers, email, fax machines, scanners and copiers. Types 45 words per minute accurately.


Physical Demands: May include bending, sitting and standing, lifting, climbing and driving. Physical demands are typical of an office environment. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
