Job Responsibilities

Creative Strategy & Execution:
  • Develops and implements creative strategies to meet the organization's goals
  • Proactively identifies and pitches creative ideas through compelling presentations, mock-ups, and concepts that align with brand messaging and business objectives.
  • Serve as a "go-to" person within the department for creative consultation and provide counsel to business leaders on strategies and execution.
  • Drives brand identity by ensuring all creative outputs reflect the brand's values, vision, and messaging across all platforms and materials, while adhering to established brand guidelines to maintain consistency and integrity.
  • Stays current with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure innovative and cutting-edge creative solutions that keep the brand relevant and competitive.
  • Listens, interprets requests, gathers feedback, and delivers design solutions that reflect the intended purpose.
Team Leadership & Management:
  • Hire, lead, supervise, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring continuous professional growth and effective performance.
  • Leads multiple projects from conception to completion in accordance with deadlines, demonstrating effective project management skills by planning, organizing, and monitoring objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships and foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and creativity with team, stakeholders, and departments.
Creative Project Development & Management:
  • Build and maintain a cohesive narrative across all platforms, contributing to increased engagement and brand awareness.
  • Manage and contribute to the planning, production, implementation, and tracking of all design projects to ensure on-time completion.
  • Take responsibility for the creative vision and the standard of output across team members, ensuring all creative output/visuals are consistent with the overall brand.
  • Distills briefs, determines project schedules, identifies and delegates tasks according to direct reports' strengths, and evaluates final output.
  • Oversees the planning and execution of photo shoots, creative copy, video production, and social media content creation to ensure alignment with brand strategy and high-quality output.
  • Manage, review, approve, and be responsible for all assigned projects and oversee creative deliverables in both print and digital formats such as signage, posters, flyers, publications, social media, presentations, photography, videos, and promotional materials.
Social Media Strategy Development & Oversight:
  • Understand social media strategies based on data, analytics, digital trends, and marketing research.
  • Collaborate closely with the team to ensure alignment between creative execution and social media goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, New Media Design, Media Arts and Technology, Visual Communication, or related field
  • 3-5 years experience in graphic and visual design, social media development, or related field.
  • Experience coordinating and delegating work within a team, managing staff and their development and performance, or related supervisory experience.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Skills:
  • Aligns creative work with university, division, and marketing goals.
  • Proven experience in creative direction with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of creative projects.
  • Significant experience working in a creative role such as graphic design, marketing, or advertising.
  • Ability to build relationships with clients, develop new opportunities for collaboration, and identify potential projects. Builds and manages relationships with individuals across various industries, divisions, and teams, including managing business relationships with external providers (vendors, contractors, suppliers).
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions and align creative strategies with business objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including spelling, grammar, and creative writing.
  • Asks smart questions, takes risks, and champions new ideas, while working effectively in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment, managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines consistently.
  • Distills abstract business concepts and client needs into refined, elegant creative solutions, and analyzes customer requirements to design solutions.
  • Keeps the team motivated and encourages a collaborative environment where team members are inspired to achieve their best work.
  • Leads multiple projects from conception to completion in accordance with deadlines, demonstrating effective project management skills by planning, organizing, and monitoring objectives.
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite ((including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, and Lightroom) with strong UX/UI and social media experience, adept at communicating creative thinking through tools such as wireframes, storyboards, mockups, flowcharts, and demos.
  • Knowledge of project management
  • Skill in social media management and social strategy development

Job Summary

The Finance and Administration division creates and delivers innovative and cost-effective solutions to the RIT community. The marketing and communications team is a highly collaborative and vibrant department that provides leadership for and manages the marketing, design, and communication efforts for the Finance and Administration division. We work in collaboration and integrate with various divisions and colleges across the university.

Under the direction of the executive director, the Associate Director of Creative for the Division of Finance and Administration is responsible for driving innovation, visual communication, and strategy. This position serves as the right hand to the Executive Marketing and Communications Director, providing strategic support and ensuring seamless execution of marketing initiatives. This pivotal position exists to lead and manage the division's creative team, ensuring the delivery of high-impact creative solutions that enhance consumer experiences and align with brand messaging.

Key responsibilities include leading creative strategy and design processes from concept to implementation, driving innovation and visual communication. The individual will proactively identify and pitch creative ideas that align with brand messaging and business objectives, oversee project schedules and outputs, ensuring timely and high-quality completion.
