Schedule: 37.5 hours, Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 5:00pm with occasional evening and/or weekend hours due to events or programs
Hourly Compensation: $15.00

SUMMARY: This on-site, 10-week internship is intended to provide a 2025 junior or senior undergraduate student with an opportunity to support the Museum's Senior Public Relations Manager and Marketing & Communications team in promoting exhibitions, events, and educational programs and sharing our brand story. The internship will allow for hands-on experience in arts-focused public relations (PR), including both media relations, and publications. The intern will learn how to communicate the Museum's mission, build public interest, and cultivate relationships that enhance the Museum's visibility in the community and beyond. This experience is invaluable for students aiming to build a career in cultural PR or museum communications, as it provides both strategic skills and insight into how arts institutions connect with the public. There may be opportunities for the intern to assist with developing news releases, assist with media events, maintain media lists, and update media coverage documentation. In addition, the intern will have the opportunity to write a story for publication in an issue of Art Matters.
RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Senior Public Relations Manager and collaborates closely with the Marketing & Communications team members and other departments across the Museum. Interns may also have the opportunity to collaborate with Summer 2025 interns from other departments.
REQUIRED: Actively enrolled college student in the year 2025. A minimum of 2 years of an undergraduate program completed prior to the start of the internship.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Standard open concept office work environment with related phone, computer and printer noise; the ability to leverage technology including computer, printer and phone systems; the person in this position may be required to communicate with public and staff who have inquiries and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions when moving among buildings.

- Pursuing a degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, English (Writing), or Marketing
- Previous work experience in a professional setting or office environment and/or has written for their university's student media outlets required
- Prior completion of a writing-intensive internship, at least two writing-related classes, and has written for one of their university's student publications or other professional media outlets preferred
- Adept in using Microsoft Word and a computer
- Must have strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
