AREAS OF INTEREST: Studio Art, Art Education, Museum Programming, Working with Youth
SUMMARY: This on-site, 10-week internship is intended to provide a 2025 undergraduate junior, senior, or graduate level student with hands-on experience in the operational aspects of youth studio programming through the roles of art education and administration in a museum. This internship provides a student with an introduction to studio programming offered at the Museum. The intern will assist in the administration of the youth summer art camps, including but not limited to classroom and supply maintenance, weekly logistics, and program evaluation. The Studio Programs Intern will assist the Studio Programs Manager to streamline processes, like organizing and cataloging class supplies, and assists with data entry and reporting. This data is then used to inform future planning and improve operations. Other responsibilities include assisting instructors, supervising youth, and serving as a face of the program for participating families.
RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Studio Programs Manager and collaborates closely with the Art Instructors and Education team members. Interns may also have the opportunity to collaborate with Summer 2025 interns from other departments.
REQUIRED: Actively enrolled college student in the year 2025. A minimum of 2 years of an undergraduate program completed prior to the start of the internship.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Standard open concept office work environment with related phone, computer and printer noise; position may require stamina to stand for periods of time and the ability to leverage technology including computer, printer and phone systems; the person in this position may be required to communicate with public and staff who have inquiries and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Requires mobility and lifting ability sufficient to greet and welcome students, assist with hands on activities, move about classroom spaces and store/replenish art equipment and supplies. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions when moving among buildings.

- Pursuing a degree in Art Education, Fine Art, Education
- Comfortability working with youth is required
- Experience teaching and/or working with youth is desired
- Adept in using Microsoft Word and a computer
- Must have strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
