About This Role:
  • Provide excellent customer service by answering patrons' questions and providing information in person and on the phone.
  • Check materials in/out and help locate materials
  • Create, update, and maintain patrons' records using library software and databases.
  • Interpret and Explain library policy and procedures to patrons
  • Answer requests for information using library resources; recommend reading materials and library services.
  • Operate the cash register to collect fees. prepare, maintain and update records and run reports.
  • Assist patrons with library services, resources, applications, and personal devices.
  • May provide Passport Acceptance Service to patrons.
  • Participate in library events in-house and in the community.
  • Attend training and meetings.
  • Create displays to encourage circulation.
  • Participate in branch or system planning committees and meetings.
Minimum Requirements: 8th grade education and 6 months experience in customer service.

Preferences:
  • Experience working in a library, retail, clerical or help desk
  • Cash handling experience
  • Experience using and troubleshooting standard office equipment: computers, fax machines, and copiers.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (TEAMS, SharePoint, MS word, Excel)
Special Requirements: The position may require travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.

Work Schedule:

This is a part-time, non-exempt 20-hour a week position. Library hours of operation are Monday-Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Thursday-Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Schedule may vary depending on the needs of the library. Weekend and evening work are required.

Starting Salary Range: $19.41
