Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Associate Vice President (AVP), Media and Agency to join our team. The AVP, Media and Agency role will oversee the strategic planning, execution, and management of media and agency partnerships. This role involves leveraging cross-functional collaboration to optimize marketing campaigns and enhance brand presence across various media channels.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Develops agency operating model of the future in conjunction with markets, regions and procurement (including developing strategies for how marketers and agencies should interface, aligning incentives, governance, and impact definition and tracking)
  2. Collaborates with key agencies globally to foster innovation, manage performance, establish a Governance Model, and ensure continuous improvement - this role will play a lead role in developing a global agency management team (AMT)
  3. Defines and maintains an optimal agency roster in partnership with Procurement, ensuring selection of agencies that align with organizational goals and values
  4. Leads relationship during negotiations for value-based contracts with top Agency of Record (AoR) partners to maximize mutual benefits and performance
  5. Effectively, accurately, and consistently records details of partnering calls, presentations, proposals, closed deals, and related activities; maintains organized records to support strategic decision-making and provide insights for future initiatives
  6. Serves as account manager for agencies on the roster and the primary subject matter expert/ technical resource for client accounts
  7. Accelerates adoption of agency operating model across key markets (US, Germany, and Japan) and regularly communicates with markets to ensure understanding and effective implementation
  8. Ensures success of agency operating model by maintaining strong, top-to-top relationships with approved AoRs through ongoing communication. Regularly engage with agency leadership to discuss performance, opportunities for growth, and continued alignment with goals
  9. Supports design of an upcoming Media Request for Proposal (RFP), working closely with the procurement team to identify key objectives, evaluation criteria, and desired outcomes
  10. Oversees media buying and planning activities in collaboration with chosen media partners to ensure effective campaign execution
  11. Develops and implements metrics to measure media effectiveness, service delivery, corporate/social/environmental responsibility, focusing on maximizing media ROI and achieving campaign objectives. Utilize data analytics to assess the performance of all traditional and digital media channels and inform future planning. This may include optimization of demand-side platforms.
  12. Develops Human Health media activation approach to improve delivery of right content to the right customer at the right time, utilizing audience segmentation and advanced targeting techniques
  13. Accountable for the successful fulfillment and completion of all agency and media contract deliverables, within contract terms, from kick-off through close

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant academic and/or practical work experience related to media planning/buying, content marketing, or a related field, preferably within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
  • Deep expertise in day-to-day content vendor and relationship management

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Proven track record in agency performance management, with a focus on designing and implementing value-based contracts
  • Demonstrated expertise in media effectiveness evaluation and ROI measurement
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills with the ability to develop data-driven insights
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence stakeholders at all levels

Expected US salary range:

$268,500.00 - $422,700.00

Available benefits include bonus eligibility, long term incentive if applicable, health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and sick days.
