The Job
As the Strategic Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for setting strategy, executing promotional activity, creating measurement metrics, building brand equity, and developing and launching marketing efforts for all channels of Emery Jensen Distribution. These channels are designated primarily as PRO, Hardware, and E-Commerce. The Strategic Marketing Manager is responsible for the following: the creation, scheduling, communication, coordination, execution and analysis of both National and Regional programs, monthly promotions, and bi-annual show events. You will work cross functionally with the Merchandising Program Managers and Sales Directors to create and drive sales for new account growth as well as existing customer share growth. In addition, you will work closely with the vendor community to support and rationalize the various sales programs and ensures sound analytical validation to substantiate the marketing efforts.
This is a pivotal role in level setting the organization on the wholesale competitive landscape and leveraging voice of the customer activity to further advance wholesale sales and marketing initiatives. This position will drive Profitable Sales Growth, improve Customer Engagement and promote EJD's Customer Value Proposition and brand through strategic leadership and disciplined development and execution of our teams responsible for Marketing, Promotional, Design, and Communications efforts.
What you'll do... Responsible for coordination and execution of $50M+ in annual promotional sales while supporting total marketing operational needs for $500M business. Own the scheduling, promotional, and communication cadence of the annual Marketing calendar for all wholesale distribution channels for Emery Jensen including support of e-commerce. Set deliverables, manage expectations, and own follow-up within the Emery Jensen organization on any topics requested and/or related to marketing, promotions, and program execution. Successfully manage a team and engage with various cross-functional support teams.
Marketing Team consisting of Creative, Promotions, Marketing/Merch Operations, and Customer Communications and Event Coordination.
Strategize and execute Promotional and Program communication internally and externally, including verbal, electronic communication, printed materials, advertising, etc. Oversee delivery of promotional program analysis, including reporting and results, reported, including ROI, revenue and margin targets. Communication of key metrics related to marketing influence. Drive Communication Vehicles & Deliverables: Responsible for the design, development and oversight of Emery Jensen website (customer-facing), Emery Jensen SharePoint site (employee-facing), EJD LinkedIn page, Email, Print: Customer communications (events, promos, EJD value prop, etc.), Internal sales team & office communications, Leadership Messages, Weekly Updates, etc. What you need to succeed
Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field. 7+ years progressive experience in Marketing, Advertising, and/or Merchandising Retail/Wholesale experience particularly in B2B marketing and sales support Proven ability to set the overall brand vision, strategy, drive consistent execution and results. Demonstrated leadership experience including managing teams and strong ability to work cross-functionally to achieve results at all levels of the organization, including the retailer community. Strategic development, design, implementation and execution of consumer-facing programs and platforms designed to build the brand and drive wholesale adoption. Comprehensive understanding and practical experience across marketing, advertising, promotions, market research, loyalty and relationship marketing disciplines. Additionally, an understanding of merchandising principles and practices is desired. Effective P & L management to deliver budgeted results Successful track record of managing multiple agencies and vendor partners Web design and website management, with B2B focus Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communications skills. Proactive, detail oriented, well organized. Collaboratively working with multiple departments (sales, operations, space planning, etc.) within Ace Corporate and EJD. Most significantly, this requires working under the direction of the Merchandising & Marketing Director, and in parallel with the Sales Effectiveness Leader and their direct reports. Ability to travel 15-20% - 2x annual trade shows, customer visits and sales meetings. Essential Functions of the Strategic Marketing Manager role:
