DIGITAL MEDIA COORDINATOR

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Digital Media Coordinator plays a pivotal role in managing and enhancing the university's digital presence, overseeing content creation, strategic planning, and management of both the university's website and social media platforms. This position is responsible for ensuring the website is well-maintained, user-friendly, and aligned with the university's brand and strategic goals. The coordinator will optimize web content for functionality, accessibility, and SEO, ensuring a seamless experience for users while driving engagement. Additionally, this role manages social media strategies to connect with the university's target audiences and promote key messages effectively. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in website management, digital marketing, and social media strategy.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in digital media, social media management, content creation, or website management.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal), including site updates, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in managing website hosting, domains, and security protocols is a plus.
  • Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing tools is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of SEO, web traffic metrics, and social media analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Sprout Social).
  • Knowledge of basic coding languages (HTML, CSS, or JavaScript) and experience working with IT teams on technical integrations or issue resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

Further, as a servant leader and role model for the students of ETBU, employee is required to participate in the life of the University via institutional meetings, Chapel services, prayer emphases, discipleship programming, committee participation, local community ministry/service, and campus activities and events. Employee provides active support of the spiritual, intellectual, and educational ideals, values, activities, and objectives of East Texas Baptist University; and conforms to Christian standards of faith and service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Management:
  • Develop, curate, and manage all published content (images, videos, written content) across social media platforms and the university websites.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure that content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with the university's brand and communication goals.
  • Create and maintain a content calendar to ensure timely updates and a consistent posting schedule.

Social Media Strategy:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy that enhances the university's online visibility and engagement.
  • Monitor social media trends, tools, and applications to incorporate new and innovative ways to reach target audiences.
  • Engage with followers, respond to inquiries, and manage the university's online reputation.

Website Management:
  • Oversee the daily management and updates of the university website, ensuring a user-friendly experience.
  • Work closely with the IT department to troubleshoot any website issues and coordinate necessary updates or redesigns.
  • Analyze website performance metrics and make data-driven recommendations for improvements.

Analytics and Reporting:
  • Monitor and report on the performance of digital content using analytics tools.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data to optimize digital marketing efforts.
  • Track and analyze key metrics such as engagement, traffic, and conversion rates.

Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to align digital media efforts with overall marketing strategies.
  • Work with university seminary, schools, departments, student organizations, and external partners to promote events, news, and other relevant content.
  • Provide training and guidance to faculty, staff, and students on digital media best practices.
  • Provide training to staff responsible for maintaining individual pages and database development for integration into the overall campus IT infrastructure.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
While performing duties, the employee may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, and stoop. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee may be required to work occasional irregular and extended hours during the workweek. The employee is expected to work some nights and weekends to fulfill responsibilities or to represent the University at special events, church and community activities, and outside organization meetings and conferences.

ETBU expects all faculty and staff to become a part of the University community by participating in activities and events that occur on the campus throughout the year, which may occur during evenings and weekends.
