Job Overview:

The Radio Repair Technician will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and repairing two-way radios and related equipment. This role involves a variety of technical tasks, including using test equipment, diagnosing issues, repairing components, and supporting network peripherals linked to Motorola Solutions applications. The position will also require monitoring network processes, ensuring equipment performance, and utilizing AI/ML models to predict repair needs for subscribers and mobile devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set-up, Adjust and Operate Test Equipment: Follow defined procedures to operate test equipment and monitor equipment performance.
  • Monitor Equipment Performance: Regularly monitor processes and collect data to assess machine performance.
  • Troubleshoot and Diagnose Issues: Identify typical issues with equipment and processes, and apply corrective or preventative measures.
  • Repair and Preventive Maintenance: Take action to repair or proactively prevent issues as they arise.
  • Support Network Peripherals: Work with Motorola Solutions applications, including network support for routing IPs, ISP, security, cabling, ChromeCast, and LTE processes.
  • Data Collection and Reporting: Collect data, validate results, and ensure accurate reporting and documentation.
  • AI/ML Model Monitoring: Monitor the accuracy and usage of AI/ML models used to predict repair materials and needs.
  • Provide Feedback: Offer insights into potential improvements in software enhancements and reporting automation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of two-way radios, RF communications, and computer networking systems.
  • PC and Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of PC operations, software platforms (Windows 10/11, MS DOS), and networking systems.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Ability to collect and analyze process-related data efficiently.
  • Documentation Management: Experience managing documentation, charts, and reports accurately and consistently.

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirement: Associate's Degree in IT, Computer Information Systems, or Technology.
  • Experience with Two-Way Radios: Prior experience working with two-way radios is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship: This role requires U.S. citizenship.

Work Environment:

  • Location: Onsite at the Motorola Federal Technical Center in Lanham, MD.
  • Safety-Sensitive Functions: No safety-sensitive functions required for this role.
  • Lifting Requirements: None specified.
  • Safety Equipment: Standard safety gear as needed based on operations.

Interview Process:

  • Number of Interviews: Maximum of 2 interviews.
  • Interview Types: Technical, behavioral, and assessment interviews.
  • Arrival Instructions: Ask for Shelly Wagner upon arrival for interviews.
  • Panel: Shelly Wagner will be conducting the interviews.

Additional Requirements:

  • Security Checks: No additional security checks required.
  • Training: On-the-job training (OJT) provided, with ongoing support.
  • Travel: No travel required for this position.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Industry Experience: Working knowledge of two-way radios and RF communications is preferred.
  • Software Skills: Familiarity with advanced networking systems and PC configuration is a plus.
