Overview:
The Manager, Creative & Content will work closely with the Senior Director, Brand Strategy to partner on creative and content production for major campaigns and initiatives and will work with great autonomy to manage a portfolio of creative marketing needs in support of Housing Works corporate priorities.
This position is responsible for the creation of marketing content (both digital and print), as well as advising creatives in departments throughout the agency on design and adherence to the corporate brand guidelines.
- Must have strong graphic design skills and be comfortable working with Adobe InDesign.
- Must be fluent in creating content for all major social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, X, Tiktok) and email marketing campaigns including photo and video editing. Experience with basic animation a plus.
- Must be a strong copywriter and knowledgeable and/or passionate about health equity and social justice.
This position requires a highly motivated and organized individual with strong communication skills, copywriting skills and the ability to manage multiple campaigns at once. Being creative, adaptable, and attuned to audience preferences and media trends are crucial to this role.
This position is classified and requires a minimum of 2 days in the office in SOHO.
Responsibilities:
Primary:
- Develop content related to organizational priorities including special observance days and agency-wide campaigns to increase brand awareness, community engagement, and revenue.
- Create digital and print assets to support agency-wide campaigns and corporate priorities.
- Capture photo/video content for social media; oversee photo/video shoots for campaigns.
- Manage social accounts and campaigns reporting in Hootesuite.
- Oversee content calendar with contributions from content from Advocacy, Retail, Fundraising, Cannabis, and Healthcare departments.
- Work with Director of Digital Strategy to coordinate efforts and report out performance. Make recommendations on future campaigns based on the success/failure interpretation of the data.
- Be knowledgeable about social media trends and position Housing Works to actively participate in the conversation as applicable with current events, memes, hashtags etc.
- Work closely with key staff across the organization as well as manage all design-related consultants and service providers to ensure successful project management, budget adherence, and high-quality, on-brand deliverables for programs.
- Adhere to Housing Works brand guidelines.
Secondary:
- Create and refresh design templates and brand kit assets in Canva (or similar) for agency-wide use.
- Support influencer campaigns as needed.
- Participate in weekly meetings and special events as applicable.
- Strict adherence to deadlines as dictated by the promotional calendar and as assigned by management.
- Assist with day to day administrative needs including invoicing and office supplies.
Other Functions:
- Participate in agency-wide working groups and committees.
- Participate in at least one direct action per quarter aimed at ending the dual crises of homelessness and HIV/AIDS.
- Know the Housing Works’ Mission Statement and goals and be able to inform and discuss with others.
- Must be highly competent and effective at promoting group harmony and mutual respect among individuals of every race, ethnic background, gender, age and sexual orientation.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Liberal Arts or other related field.
Qualifications:
- B.A. or equivalent experience in communications, liberal arts or relevant field.
- 3-5 years relevant work experience (eg design/branding, marketing production, campaign management).
- Excellent communications skills, able to communicate effectively through emails, social channels, in person, during events and in demanding situations.
- Must have strong writing skills with the ability to write adaptively to various formats.
- Superior organizational and project management skills.
- Acute sense of judgment, tact, and professionalism.
- Enthusiasm for Housing Works’ mission and nonprofit work a must.
- Self-starter with ability to work both in teams and individually.
- Strong attention to detail, research, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
- Knowledge of and interest in HIV/AIDS and related social justice issues.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to remain in stationary position 70% of time.
- Frequently move about inside the office to access file cabinets, paperwork, office machinery, etc.
- Operates PC computer and other office productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and occasionally assist with moving boxes and other items as necessary.
- Frequently communicates (exchanges information, converse with, confirm work order to completed) with clients, vendors, supervisors, community at large, management, reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Occasionally required to traverse public transportation to attend meetings, events, or other Housing Works locations throughout New York City.
- This position is classified as “hybrid,” and the employee can choose to work remotely up to three days a week. We will not consider fully remote candidates. It’s expected that the employee will have a residence in the greater New York Metropolitan area, including NJ, CT, and/or PA.
Compensation Range: $75,000 - $80,000 yearly commensurate with experience.
