Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position)
The Communications Specialist will be part of the Student Operations Team (or Ops Team), which supports the administrative, data, marketing and technology needs of the office. Each member of the team will specialize in a specific area of operations and contribute to other efforts of the team as needed.

- Complete in-depth training on St. Olaf career and vocational resources
- Apply marketing and digital media skills in a professional context
- Contribute ideas for making the Piper Center even more effective
- Get to know the professional staff of the Piper Center
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Write promotional content for Piper Center events and resources for use in print materials, emails, and the Piper Center website
- Implement the content and site design changes on the site in the Wordpress platform
- Partner with Piper Center professional staff and MarCom to identify and develop relevant content for the Alumni Career Services website
- Collaborate with the Coaches, Marketing and Communications Department and external website designers regarding overall integration with the St. Olaf College site standards
- Identify relevant articles and content for reposting
- Analyze content engagement and make recommendations to improve
- Edit content produced by staff members and possible alumni
- Contribute to marketing and communications strategy for the Piper Center
- As needed, perform duties related to the general operations of the center
- Support the office staff with project management, organization, and analysis related to the content review
As members of the broader Operations Team, Communications Specialists may also:
- Enter job and internship information to Handshake
- Contribute ideas for making the Operations Team and the Piper Center even more effective
Operations Team members are expected to work 6 hours per week.
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
- Excellent writing skills as well as the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively
- Basic proficiency with Wordpress and/or other web editing tools, a plus
- Flexibility and desire to work in a fluid environment, assisting where needed
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects effectively and meet deadlines
- Ability to work well independently and to collaborate effectively with staff
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Familiarity with Piper Center events and resources is strongly preferred
- Positive attitude and interest in the Piper Center's programs and resources
