Power Temp Systems, a growing electrical manufacturer, is seeking an experienced CAD Designer - Electrical Assembly Manufacturing for its Houston, TX location.
The CAD Designer will play a critical role in our electrical assembly manufacturing operations. Utilizing Solidworks, the CAD Designer will create precise and detailed designs for electrical assemblies, components, and systems. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical principles, manufacturing processes, and CAD software.
The ideal candidate will possess the creativity and technical expertise necessary to translate conceptual ideas into tangible, manufacturable designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and objectives. Translate concepts and ideas into 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings.
- Drafting and Modeling: Create and maintain detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D models using SolidWorks. Ensure accuracy, compliance with industry standards, and adherence to project specifications.
- Product Development: Assist in the development of new products by designing components, assemblies, and prototypes. Optimize designs for functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Review and Modification: Review and revise existing designs to accommodate changes, updates, or improvements. Ensure that all modifications are documented and communicated effectively.
- Material and Component Selection: Collaborate with engineers and suppliers to select appropriate materials and components based on design requirements and constraints.
- Quality Assurance: Perform quality checks on CAD models and drawings to identify and rectify errors, inconsistencies, or inaccuracies. Ensure designs meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records of design files, revisions, and project documentation. Create and update design documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs) and technical specifications.
- Communication: Effectively communicate design ideas and concepts to team members and stakeholders through visual representations and presentations.
- Project Coordination: Work within project timelines and budgets, collaborating with project managers to ensure design milestones are met.
- Continual Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, CAD software advancements, and best practices to enhance design efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- - Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, CAD Technology, or a related field.
- - Proven experience as a CAD Designer or similar role, preferably in the electrical assembly manufacturing industry.
- - Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar.
- - Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability.
- - Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate and high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- - Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory compliance relevant to electrical assembly manufacturing.
Working Conditions:
- - This position is primarily office-based but may require visits to manufacturing areas.
- - Occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
