Southern Nevada Government Accountability Reporter
The Nevada Independent
We’re looking for a data-minded watchdog reporter who can immerse themself in local governments overseeing Southern Nevada — the dynamic home of Las Vegas and three-quarters of the state’s residents — and dig up impactful stories with statewide resonance.
The reporter will lean on records and sourcing to keep local officials accountable as they work on issues ranging from building a Major League Baseball stadium to combatting fast-rising temperatures and housing prices.
Spanish proficiency is a plus.
Salary and Benefits: $50,000-$60,000
Employer pays full cost of health, dental and vision insurance 401k program with employer match 15 days of paid time off, 12 paid holidays and additional bonus time off surrounding major holidays at discretion of management Phone stipend Technology replacements covered as needed Professional development stipend to cover training and conference attendance
This position will be: Work-from-home (based in the coverage area)
Moving Stipend: Up to approximately $1,000.
