Position Summary
The Marketing and Social Media Specialist has daily oversight of the University's primary social media accounts and is responsible for planning, creation, deployment, response, and measuring the effectiveness of the University's social media presence. The position reports to the Director of Communication.
Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Assist with the development and implementation of the University's marketing and communications strategy Create and curate engaging content for the University's website and other marketing channels Monitor marketing analytics and trends to optimize content and campaigns Collaborate with other marketing/communications staff to ensure a cohesive brand presence Assist with the planning and execution of marketing campaigns, events, and other initiatives Provide regular reports on the performance and effectiveness of the University's marketing efforts Provide administrative support to the Director of Marketing as needed Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be versed in current social media platforms and trends and have a track record of successful social media management in a similar role Fully versed in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and other popular social media platforms Must be able to quickly adapt to new social media and related platforms as trends shift Must have excellent writing skills, ability to respond to inquiries with little or no oversight Versed in Adobe Creative Cloud for producing social media content and layouts Basic understanding of photography and video capture and editing for building social media content Understanding of KPI's, traffic metrics and SEO as it relates to social media efforts Physical Requirements
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communication, English, Creative Writing, Public Relations, Journalism or related fields. A minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations. Must provide examples of successful social media campaigns, posts and strategies implemented for a current small or large business, corporation, non-profit or higher-education entity.
