Position Purpose

The primary goal of this role is to develop, update, and maintain high-quality documentation for software products developed by PLEXIS. This includes creating user guides, product manuals, and technical reference materials tailored for both external clients and internal team members. Occasionally, the technical writer may also be tasked with documenting third-party software tools utilized by PLEXIS. The documentation produced will be critical in ensuring users and staff can effectively understand, utilize, and troubleshoot the software.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Essential functions and basic duties include the creation and maintenance of user documentation for various PLEXIS software products. Such documentation includes:

  • User guides
  • Software documentation made available via web portal (new site page documentation, existing page updates)
  • Release notes
  • Other documentation relating to a PLEXIS product
  • Creation and/or maintenance of documentation for software that is used at PLEXIS, though not created by PLEXIS
Performance Measurements
  • Timely, high-quality fulfillment of essential functions and basic duties
  • Knowledge, application, and adherence to PLEXIS process methodology and corresponding tools used to support such methodology
  • Timely and consistent response/turn-around of status reports, time entry and other documentation required by PLEXIS
  • Professional business communications (verbal, written and professional appearance)
  • Conflict resolution
  • Multi-tasking and successful prioritization of daily duties to maximize project(s) success
  • Demonstration of positive attitude toward company, products, and employees

Qualifications
  • Interact well with people
  • Proven ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Research and evaluate new documentation tools and methods
  • Ability to use basic to advanced formatting features of Microsoft WORD, including "styles"
  • Experience using Visio, Acrobat Pro, SnagIt, and SharePoint
  • Experience with on-line help authoring tools
  • Comfortable learning new computer applications
  • Interact well with engineers and other software professionals to understand functionality, data elements, relationships, and processing rules
  • Ability to attain proficiency in PLEXIS software applications for which documentation is created and maintained
  • Ability to present simple to complex ideas and concepts to support end user "ease-of-use" of the documentation for the products they are using
  • Self-motivated, self-disciplined, and results-oriented
  • Knowledge of healthcare claims processing industry practices (while not required, this is highly desirable)
Physical Activities and Requirements of this Position
  • Ability to access input and retrieve information from a computer to produce typed copy
  • Capacity to communicate well and in a manner which can be understood by those with whom the technical writer is speaking, in person and by phone
  • Capability of dialing or otherwise using a telephone to place and receive telephone calls
  • Willingness and capability to come and go from the work area repeatedly throughout the day as is necessary
  • Willingness and capacity to sit or stand for minimum periods of one hour at a time
  • Capacity to pick up, quickly skim, and/or thoroughly read books and files and other materials
  • Ability to reach forward, up, down, and to the side in order to move equipment up to 40 lbs.
  • Willingness and ability to maintain regular attendance for normally scheduled hours and to be flexible to work other shifts as necessary (i.e., potential weekend schedule)

Position Details:

Position Location: Remote

Position Status: Full-Time/Exempt

Salary Range: $56,800- $60,000 Depending on Experience
