An exciting job opportunity has arisen within the United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust's Library and Knowledge Services team. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team to work as a Library and Information Advisor at Pilgrim Hospital, in Boston. You will work alongside our three Library and Information Advisors, who are based at Lincoln County Hospital and Grantham and District Hospital.

The Library and Knowledge Services team delivers library services and resources to all staff working at United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust, and Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. We aim to support and enhance clinical practice and patient care, personal and professional development, education and training, organisational and service development and research.

Main duties of the job

This role is for 30 hours per week, delivering a user-facing, efficient, front-line service in the library, acting as first point of contact to all visitors. The successful job applicant must have good customer care skills, with a strong focus on supporting the needs of current and potential library service users. You will be responsible for welcoming visitors into the library space and assisting users to access library resources to find information for themselves. You will also process and answer user enquiries, confidently deliver individual or group library induction sessions and help to source requested books and journal articles from other libraries. You must be able to work flexibly, both independently and as a team player.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and GCSE English Language (Grade A*-C / 9-4) or equivalent.
  • Diploma in Library, Archives and Information Services or comparable qualification, or equivalent experience
  • European Computer Driving Licence or equivalent IT qualification

Experience

  • Previous experience of working in a library administrative role
  • Previous experience in a health library
  • Effective customer care skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • The ability to work on initiative without supervision
  • The ability to source information effectively
  • The ability to manage your own workload effectively.
  • An understanding of the concepts inherent within libraries and health care.

Specific Requirements

  • The ability to work with a range of IT programmes

£26,530 to £29,114 a year per annum (£21,224 to £23,291 pro rata for part time)
