Our client is a leader in the fashion industry, known for our innovative designs, quality craftsmanship, and commitment to sustainability. They are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Technical Handbag Designer to join their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate: 

$35-38/hr

Position Overview:

The Technical Handbag Designer will play a pivotal role in translating creative concepts into technically precise designs. This role involves collaborating closely with design, product development, and manufacturing teams to ensure handbags meet aesthetic, functional, and quality standards. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for accessories.

Responsibilities of the Technical Handbag Designer:

• Develop detailed technical sketches, CADs, and specifications for handbags, including dimensions, materials, and hardware.
• Collaborate with the design team to translate creative concepts into production-ready designs.
• Create and maintain tech packs, including BOMs (Bills of Materials), construction details, and manufacturing notes.
• Work closely with product development and sourcing teams to select appropriate materials, trims, and hardware.
• Ensure that designs adhere to brand standards, quality benchmarks, and production capabilities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design or construction issues during sample development and production stages.

Qualifications of the Technical Handbag Designer:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a technical designer, preferably in handbags or accessories.
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD programs.
• Strong understanding of handbag construction, materials, and hardware.
• Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with cross-functional teams and vendors.
• Familiarity with sustainability practices and trends in handbag design is a plus.
