About the Role

We are building a roster of skilled 3D Artists with experience creating and optimizing 3D models and animations for web and mobile platforms. Bonus points if you have expertise in assets for Augmented Reality (AR) experiences. Candidates must demonstrate a deep understanding of asset optimization and share a portfolio showcasing 3D designs/animations.

This role requires proficiency in producing performant animations for active use (not video) on platforms such as Three.js, SceneKit, RealityKit, or ARCore, with deliverables in .glb file format.

Responsibilities

  • 3D Asset Development: Create, optimize, and deliver high-quality 3D models and animations tailored for web and mobile, ensuring excellent performance and low file sizes (< 10MB).
  • AR Asset Creation: Design assets specifically for AR platforms such as Snapchat Lenses and WebAR.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with art leadership, engineering, and design teams to define and deliver polished XR models and animations.
  • Environment & Object Optimization: Oversee layout, implementation, and optimization of environments, interactive objects, textures, and shaders.
  • Problem-Solving: Quickly identify and resolve technical challenges in asset creation, collaborating with team members across disciplines.
  • Creative Ideation: Provide input on the best methods for producing 3D assets to achieve various project goals and visual effects.
  • Iterative Workflow: Collaborate, iterate, and refine assets based on team and client feedback.

Requirements

  • 3D Generalist Skills: Proficiency in modeling, texturing, lighting, animation, physics, and particle systems.
  • 3D Software Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Blender, Cinema 4D (C4D), or similar tools capable of exporting .glb files.
  • Optimization: Proven ability to reduce polygon counts and optimize assets for web/mobile platforms.
  • Technical Animation: Experience with motion design, rigging, and creating performant animations for real-time deployment.
  • Pipeline Knowledge: Deep understanding of the full 3D production pipeline, from concept to implementation.
  • Visual Styles: Ability to adapt to a variety of visual aesthetics and project needs.
  • Experience: Familiarity with creating assets for platforms such as Snapchat Lenses and WebAR.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and articulate creative solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating assets for Augmented Reality projects
  • Knowledge of Three.js, SceneKit, RealityKit, or ARCore.
  • Understanding of shaders and advanced compositing techniques.
  • Experience generating 3D assets from 2D or video references.
