Sr. Product Designer

Our customer is looking for a Sr. Product Designer with Healthcare and AI experience to join their AI Innovation team. This person will be working with the leadership team to help create an innovative patient driven experience from end to end. For example: they may try to improve patient experience when they are calling in to schedule a follow up drs. appt so vs. the person waiting on hold, pressing numbers they would get it to a point where through AI they would call in or on an app say/suggest a time they usually come in for their next appt and send a follow up text with the link to add to their calendar invite.
Day-day responsibilities/job function:
Co-Lead Product Discovery - Modern Product Designers continuously collaborate with product managers and engineers. Instead of working solely in a traditional "design phase", the modern Product Designer participates in all phases of a product, from discovery to delivery to iteration. Rather than being measured on the output of their design work, the Product Designer is measured on the success of their product achieving the target outcomes.
*Holistic Experience Design - Strong Product Designers have a broad view of User Experience (UX) and related product design domains. They think about the customer's journey over time as they interact with the product and Novant Health as a whole. Strong Product Designers leverage various product design methods to investigate answers to questions such as:
*How will we onboard a first-time user and reveal intended functionality?
*How might users interact at different stages in their workflow?
*How might things be different for a 1-month old user vs. a 1-year old user?
*How will we motivate a user to a higher level of commitment to the product?
*What is the perceived responsiveness of the product?
*What is the perceived overall usefulness and value of the product?
*Prototyping - Developing products that customers love requires continuous collaboration with colleagues as well as frequent validation with users and customers, and prototypes facilitate that communication. Strong Product Designers leverage prototypes as their primary canvas for communicating ideas to users, customers, and product colleagues. They are generally comfortable with a number of different prototyping tools, and able to apply the correct one for the task at hand.
*User Testing - Strong Product Designers are constantly testing their ideas with actual users and customers. They don't just test when a prototype or idea is ready, they build user testing into their regular schedule. A strong Product Designer is able to constantly validate and refine ideas as well as collect new insights that they may not have even been looking for, and they understand that User Testing is much broader than usability testing. Product Designers and their product teams utilize the opportunity to assess the value of their ideas. For example, will their customers actually use their product as a daily/weekly/regular part of their work to accomplish essential goals and realize meaningful value?
*Interaction and Visual Design - Visual design and interaction design have historically been considered separate roles. Visual design includes things like composition, typography and how the visual brand is expressed. Interaction design generally includes things like the underlying conceptual models, and task flows and control layouts to manipulate those concepts. Modern Product Designers may have different strengths, but generally have some level of skill with both visual and interaction design. Having a more complete toolset allows them to work quickly at different levels of fidelity depending on the context. It also allows them to design experiences in ways that wouldn't have been possible when thinking of interaction and visual separately.
*Product Scope - The Sr Product Designer level position is typically responsible for two or more complex products, and/or multiple features across products simultaneously.
*Product Vision & Strategy - The Sr Product Designer level position is expected to effectively contribute to the product team's overall Product Vision & Strategy.

**Prefer experience using AI/Gen AI tools in performing product design tasks
**Prefer experience with Epic UI/UX or similar EMR/EHR
Experience with User-Centered Design (IxDF), Design Thinking (IDEO U), Behavioral Economics (Irrational Labs), and/or Silicon Valley Product Group (SVPG) methodologies are all highly preferred.
*Experience using AI / GenAI tools to bolster the product design process, such as during product ideation, product research and analysis, and/or prototyping.

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00
