Audience Development Fellowship
New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) located in downtown Newark, NJ, is the country’s most diverse performing arts center, and the artistic, cultural, educational and civic center of New Jersey — where great performances and events enhance and transform lives every day. NJPAC brings diverse communities together, providing access to all and showcasing the state’s and world’s best artists while acting as a leading catalyst in the revitalization of its home city.
We are currently hiring for our Fellows Program. The audience development fellow’s role is to reach audience development goals by developing creative marketing solutions to attract new audiences. This includes strategizing and developing marketing plans, such as, podcasts, street team, research and writing.
Reports to Senior Manager, Institutional Marketing & Operations
Schedule
This is an eight-week summer fellowship running June 9 to August 1, 2025.
Must be available Tuesday mornings; additional days and times to be discussed with the supervisor. Some nights and weekends are required to staff performances and events.
20 hours per week
Responsibilities
Assist with developing creative marketing solutions to attract new audiences and reach audience development goals
Communications planning with VP of Marketing & Communications
Strategize and find new audiences for Standing in Solidarity/PSEG True Diversity film series
Establish relationships with local businesses (in-person and via email or phone)
Understand, study and implement marketing plans
Create and schedule Arts Education social media content
Write articles about social impact/institutional programming
Brainstorm marketing and audience development strategies with professional development Arts Education team about Social Justice Learning Series podcast
Enter assignments into Wrike (project management tool)
Strategize audiences for Arts & Well-Being events
Develop contact lists (a daily task)
Drop-off collateral weekly to businesses
Collaborate with internal and external teams
Minimum Qualifications
Strong initiative and ability to work effectively in a fast paced, non-profit arts environment
Excellent organizational skills with an eye for details
Self-motivation and high-level of energy
Fluency in English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Must be able to lift 5 – 15 lbs. of promotional materials
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word and Excel
Familiarity with Google Forms, Sheets and Docs a plus
Open to rising college juniors, seniors, post-college graduates or graduate students
Preferred Qualifications
Media Arts, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing majors
