Summary of Position

The ASTM Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE) was established in 2018 in response to the expansion of additive manufacturing technologies into new market segments as witnessed in recent years. By forging collaborations among industry, government, and academia, ASTM AM CoE is strategically positioned to accelerate standards development and provide AM programming to benefit the growing AM community.

We are seeking a dynamic, independent and creative Marketing Manager within ASTM who will be instrumental in developing, executing, and managing comprehensive marketing and branding plans and campaigns and social media initiatives to support the growth of the AM CoE's programs, strengthen messaging and global market positioning. The Marketing Manager will be responsible for creating, managing and executing plans to initiate and drive long-term strategic marketing vision, increase global visibility, engagement and market positioning of the ASTM AM CoE's programs

This role offers a unique opportunity to take ownership of impactful initiatives, engage with global industry leaders, and showcase innovation in marketing strategy for the rapidly growing additive manufacturing sector.

Associated tasks include but are not limited to:

  1. Develop and implement regional (US/EU/APAC) marketing plans to promote ASTM AM activities to achieve aggressive growth targets defined by the AM community.
  2. Coordinate with partners to evaluate and develop appropriate marketing plans for regional business development and increased stakeholder engagement.
  3. Monitor and improve marketing plans for meeting key targets by regularly reviewing marketing activities and identifying areas for improvement.
  4. Analyze global AM market research trends and provide key insights from marketing activities to ASTM leadership.
  5. Define and structure marketing programs to grow new business development opportunities.
  6. Lead the marketing of ASTM AM CoE initiatives and activities by combining strategic thinking, creativity, and a hands-on approach to execute impactful, scalable marketing campaigns.
  7. Collaborate with event teams to integrate marketing campaigns into high-profile events such as ICAM, Formnext, Rapid among others.
  8. Design promotional campaigns and branding strategies to increase event visibility, drive attendance, and enhance engagement.
  9. Lead the management of AM CoE website and social media platforms to ensure consistent messaging and audience engagement. .
  10. Develop engaging, compelling, and high-quality marketing content for newsletters, press releases, whitepapers, case studies, and digital platforms to strengthen communications with stakeholders.
  11. Lead social media strategies acorss platforms like LinkedIn, X (Formely Twitter), and YouTube to expand audience reach and engagement.
  12. Define measurable goals,KPIs, and analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of branding, communications, and social media activities to achieve organizational business goals

In general, the Marketing Manager will be the engagement lead that identifies global AM marketing opportunities and develops sales and marketing activities to support global business development. Although not an essential requirement for the position, familiarity with Advanced Manufacturing technologies and their connection to other emerging technologies is advantageous for this role. The Marketing Manager will also engage regularly with the AM community, formulating strategies and plans to further position the work of the AM CoE within the global AM ecosystem.

Specifically, the rolewill:

  • Work in a collaborative mode with colleagues to meet marketing goals and objectives.
  • Identify marketing opportunities and partnerships to launch, promote and advertise new business development programs and forge new partnerships.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and issues related to and beyond the additive manufacturing space.
  • Assist the team in assessing emerging technologies, business partnerships, possible acquisitions, and other related business ventures aligned to ASTM AM CoE's goals.
  • Support marketing efforts of specific inter- and intra-organizational programs, such as CMDS.
  • Facilitate negotiations and close marketing partnership agreements with different stakeholders from government agencies
  • Identify and realize commercialization opportunities through different sales marketing strategies and channels.
  • Manage marketing activities and outreach on the AM CoE website and social media platforms.
  • Lead social media management efforts by developing and implementing strategics to drive engagement, audience growth, and program visibility across platforms such as LinkedIn, X, and YouTube.
  • Monitor social media metrics and campaign performance to improve content delivery and audience reach.
  • Create new content and/or share content from existing advocates (speakers, partners, etc.) on various marketing channels and platforms.
  • Identify appropriate program and event sponsors to maximize stakeholder engagement.
  • Represent ASTM at conferences and trade shows in the additive manufacturing space or related areas.
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging and visuals across all communication and promotional channels, aligning with ASTM AM CoE's overall goals and strategic initiatives.

Please note that regular travel will be required for this position (approximately 20%).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering, manufacturing, or business, or marketing field with at least 5 years of professional experience in technical sales or marketing.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing marketing projects for a brand portfolio in a global environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and negotiation skills in conducting marketing activities in an international setting.
  • Ability to analyze market research reports and produce appropriate marketing, branding, and communications content.
  • Independent self-starter with a "roll up your sleeves" attitude that can manage multiple marketing activities and engagements, as well as program execution and implementation.
  • Ability to work closely with a diverse collection of staff, technical committees, individual technical experts, and contractors.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms and content creation to support branding and engagement goals.
  • Ability to think "big-picture" and connect opportunities to current or required organizational reality.
  • Comprehensive understanding of ASTM's strategies and industry trends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA with a specialization in Marketing.
  • 5-8 years of professional sales and marketing experience within additive manufacturing or related field in advanced manufacturing
  • At least 5 years' experience in product marketing fundamentals.
  • Proven experience leading branding and digital communications strategies.
  • Knowledge of existing regulation requirements and standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to execute at scale in marketing programs.
  • Demonstrated partnership management with the capability to juggle between multiple projects and priorities.
  • Excellent relationship management skills and ability to represent company at a global scale
  • Proven record of influencing people without positional authority.
  • Critical thinker and decision maker, able to understand and relate what is best for the company.
  • Familiarity with social media management tools and analytics platforms.
  • Strategic vision with ability to propose, analyze, and articulate short-, medium- and long-term scenarios for additive manufacturing marketing opportunities.
  • Understanding of standards development in additive manufacturing technical committees.
