Position Overview:

Global Citizens Public Relations department is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic Senior Associate with a passion for developing skills in the PR and communications field, excellent organizational skills, and a drive to make a positive global impact.


The ideal candidate will be a resourceful, solution-oriented self-starter, with sharp attention to detail, a positive attitude and a hunger to learn within a fast-paced PR department. This role will be responsible for support and coordination across the breadth of the PR team, supporting all team members across US and international campaigns and events, and liaising with PR agencies around the world. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and communication skills; confidence working across time zones, languages and cultures; experience working on large-scale live events; and be well acquainted with Muck Rack, Meltwater, and PR Newswire.

Key responsibilities include:


Media Relations Support (30%)

      • Build and maintain media lists and databases of press contacts; track media coverage of issues related to Global Citizens mission and build lists of relevant reporters accordingly
      • Maintain an editorial calendar of priority long-lead publications and podcasts for proactive long-lead pitching and evergreen placements,
      • Build and maintain a calendar of key industry thought leadership events and speaking opportunities for key Global Citizen executives and spokespeople
      • Provide team support leading up to and during events, press conferences, junkets, briefings, etc. in the US and internationally
      • Manage the PR team inbox and respond to enquiries or direct them internally
      • Creative ideation for innovative storytelling opportunities to reach key and new audiences, particularly at the intersection of traditional and new media

Communications Materials (30%)

      • Draft and proof read materials, including press releases, social media captions (when requested), bios, interview backgrounders, etc.
      • Asset management, building and maintaining press kits and campaign materials to accompany press releases, aligning with the creative and social departments

Team Administration (40%)

      • Monitor and circulate daily media coverage and compile results and reports,
      • Schedule meetings and calls with internal groups and external agencies across time zones
      • Prepare meeting agendas; taking and circulating meeting minutes, ensuring accountability and delivery
      • Assist with the day-to-day administration of PR agencies and contractors, including processing invoices and legal contracts
      • Draft slides for presenting the PR teams results to the organization
      • Maintain and organize the PR team drive and archives
      • Additional ad hoc support to VP Public Relations, Senior Director Public Relations EMEA as required

Required competencies include:

      • A Bachelors degree or equivalent, ideally in Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Journalism or Marketing
      • 2-3 years experience running global campaigns in entertainment, politics, or nonprofits
      • Strong understanding of the digital media landscape, with a particular focus on media consumption habits of Gen Z
      • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly,
      • Strong analytical skills and the ability to anticipate and mitigate potential problems,
      • Event experience a bonus
      • Ability to be diligent, organized and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities,
      • Ability to quickly understand and analyze complex information,
      • Team player with a hunger to learn; resourceful and proactive with a positive attitude
      • Confidentiality, discretion and trustworthiness
      • Additional language skills a plus

More Details

      • Must be authorized for employment in NYC
      • Global Citizen operates on a hybrid work model - 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) in our NYC office and 2 days (Monday & Friday) telecommuting.
