Job Summary:

The Director will manage the Foreign Rights Department, overseeing the foreign rights of acclaimed authors of bestselling and award-winning books, as well as the global publishing of Trident’s clients and their works.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage the Foreign Rights Department, leading a team of 4-5 members

Liaise with clients, domestic agents, foreign publishers and editors via phone and email

Maintain existing relationships and develop new connections with foreign publishers

Read client manuscripts and build in-depth knowledge of Trident titles

Prepare titles for international submission, compose submission letters, and submission lists

Negotiate UK and translation rights sales for clients

Oversee contracts and payments for foreign editions

Attend and represent Trident Media Group at Frankfurt and London for book fairs, overseeing the agency’s foreign rights catalog, and meeting with international editors

Track client performance in foreign markets

Oversee foreign tax exemption form process

Set departmental targets and ensure these are met

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree

5+ years of book publishing experience in foreign rights

Outstanding managerial, communication and people skills

Superior organizational skills and very detail-oriented

Extremely professional and articulate

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Foreign language skills a PLUS
