Position Details
The Department of Film, Animation, and New Media within the College of Arts & Letters at The University of Tampa seeks a dynamic candidate with diverse teaching expertise for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in August 2024.
The ideal candidate is an excellent teacher who holds an MFA or other relevant terminal degree in animation or a related field, with teaching/research interests in 3D and 2D animation teaching and practice.
Qualified applicants should be proficient in 3D modeling and animation, using industry standard tools (Maya, Blender, Cinema 4D, etc); should maintain interest and skill in other animation traditions such as 2D, stop motion, experimental forms, etc; and must be excellent teachers, engaged in fostering both creative training and technical skills development in students.
Other desired skills may include any of the following: skills in rigging for animation in 3D; experience with motion capture; 3D sculpting; 3D lighting and virtual camera; compositing and digital effects; interest in game development and gaming environments (such as Unreal or Unity); and/or interest in virtual production.
