Position: Multi-Media Producer/Announcer

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Craft and produce captivating audio-rich news stories.
  • Conduct and produce interviews, emergency information, feature reports, and broadcast specials.
  • Present stories on our website and distribute content across new and social media platforms.
  • Assist in expanding the use of our website and new media products.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write, produce, and announce hourly newscasts and local news stories.
  • Create and deliver emergency information, public service announcements, and on-air news promotions.
  • Produce weekly feature-length stories, including public safety reports every other week.
  • Deliver daily brief hard news stories, interviews, regular on-air newscasts, and social media updates.
  • Edit copy and audio for broadcast.
  • Serve as a host/anchor on-air as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Be available for weekend, early morning, or evening shifts, especially during emergencies.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field from an accredited institution OR a minimum of four (4) years of proven work experience in journalism, communications or a related field.
  • Proven announcing skills with an emphasis on news presentation.
  • A working knowledge of FCC rules and regulations relating to studio operations and journalistic standards.
  • Ability to master new technologies and understand the basics of web-based publishing.
  • Excellent research, writing, editing, proofreading, and interviewing skills.
  • Knowledge of the mechanics of Standard English grammar and AP style.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be highly organized with an eye for detail.
  • Knowledge of all facets of online content production, including writing for web, copy editing, graphic design and prefer those with HTML, photography, and audio/video production skills.
  • A self-starter who can perform duties without direct supervision.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Extensive creativity with expertise in the operation of all standard field, studio broadcast, computer equipment, and software.
  • Ability to write, edit, and produce news and public service spots and promotional spots as well as present them on-air, on the station web site, and through social and new media.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires an ability to sit and stand for long periods of time, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate vehicles, and standard office machines and broadcast recording equipment. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards.

Compensation and Application Deadline

Pay range starts at: $17.87/hour | All salary calculations start at the minimum salary and will be based on candidate's education and experience. | Grant funded. | Open until filled.
