Position Summary
The role of an Audio Visual Events Consultant (AV Events Consultant) is to facilitate outstanding, engaging, and seamless AV services to on-campus, remote, and hybrid events. The AV Events Consultant and the AV Events team will work with campus partners and external clients to strategize, implement, and produce a wide variety of events at locations including the PSU sports arena, ballroom, auditoriums, conference rooms, classrooms, and partner hotel.
This position’s primary job duties are:
- Event Planning: Collaborate with clients to gather requirements, offer services, organize, quote, and prepare for professional quality AV for live campus events.
- On-Site Event Support: Organize, set up, break down, and ensure the smooth delivery of professional sound, video, and lighting at live campus events.
- Documentation and Training: Develop written documentation and live training for students, staff, employees, and clients on the operation of AV technologies.
- Administrative & Maintenance: Conduct day-to-day business activities including coordinating with partner teams, processing billing and accounts receivable, attending team meetings, gear inventory, and maintenance of gear.
- Other duties as assigned: Infrequent tasks related to the delivery of AV Event services or voluntary departmental activities.
Minimum Qualifications from Classification
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems generally obtained through an AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
- Knowledge of AV equipment in live or production environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with, collaborating, and supporting people from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience with event coordination.
- Experience supporting live events.
- Experience with sound reinforcement.
- Familiarity with facilitating or organizing virtual and hybrid events.
- Familiarity with event or theatrical lighting design, systems, and/or controls.
- Familiarity with videography and video editing software.
- Ability to make recommendations to improve operations.
- Ability to document solutions.
- Ability to train others on technologies and processes.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
The starting salary rate for this position is between $3,818 to $5,803 per month at 1.0 FTE. The starting salary may be negotiable above this range, depending upon the knowledge, experience, skills, and abilities of the chosen candidate.
