Position Highlights: The Copywriter & Content Specialist is an integral part of the Enrollment Marketing and Communication (EMC) that produces marketing materials supporting admissions and recruitment efforts. Supervised by the Assistant Director, this position works with other creative professionals within the department to develop compelling content across many platforms. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and team player who can contribute to brainstorm sessions about enrollment marketing projects with other members of the EMC team. Strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are a must.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create content for print and digital marketing materials designed for a variety of audiences, including prospective students and families.
- Write copy for projects that may include (but are not limited to) brochures, direct mail, websites, landing pages, emails and other digital communications, social media, video scripts, and more.
- Conduct interviews and tell authentic stories that showcase the U of A student experience.
- Maintain content resources including messaging matrices, student quotes and interview transcripts, and others. Oversee and update U of A profiles on various influencer websites.
- Adapt messaging to suit various audiences including prospective first-year students, transfer students, parents and families, and other relevant audiences.
- Write and update scripts for annual key admissions events.
- Proofread and edit content to ensure consistent voice, tone, and quality. Ensure all content meets U of A Style Guide requirements and is aligned with the university's overarching brand.

- Ability to write and edit copy for a variety of audiences and platforms.
- Adhere to brand guidelines.
- Ensure content is aligned with the university brand and adhere to guidelines provided.
- Work on and deliver multiple projects simultaneously.

- Present ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.

- Assist in office workflow and daily operations.
Knowledge of:
- English grammar and copywriting best practices.
- Effective marketing planning, tactics, and execution.
- Direct response marketing tactics and techniques, including online advertising, direct mail, and email.
- Higher education industry.
- Writing in accordance with style guides.
- Content and email management systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, creative writing, communications, journalism, marketing or related field OR any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
- Three years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in researching and collecting information, including interviewing skills, web research skills, and other intelligence-gathering techniques.
- Experience with project management systems is a plus.
