Job Summary
The Editor I will be responsible for the review and approval of the dissertations of all doctoral candidates and all master's students who are required to write a thesis.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in English or Journalism; or equivalent combination of education & experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will possess the ability to identify corrections needed to comply with the Office of Graduate Education's guidelines and provide ongoing communication with students through the completion of the dissertation/thesis approval process. Must be able to work independently and with a team, and meet strict deadlines.
Other job duties include assisting with updating the formatting and submission guides, proposing submission deadline dates each semester, presenting formatting workshops, researching, planning, programming, advising, and instructing to support graduate students' writing goals and to promote their proficiency in the style and genre conventions of academic writing. The Editor I will also provide one-to-one consultations to address graduate students' individual writing concerns, develop and deliver original programming to address significant aspects of academic writing, collect attendance data, and develop assessment tools to evaluate programming.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

Remote Work Notice: A hybrid remote work schedule may be available. Employees must be located within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area and have the ability to be on campus for work activities as scheduled and/or with 24-hour notice. Completion and approval of a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required upon employment, and use of personal computer, internet, and other standard equipment may be required. Remote work arrangements are subject to regular review and re-approval and may be canceled at any time.
