Position: Technical Editor Location: Hanscom AFB, MA

Summary: DAWSON is seeking, on contingency of contract award, a Technical Editor to support the Air Force Information Network (AFIN), a multibillion-dollar portfolio that ensures a reliable and secure digital communications infrastructure for the Department of the Air Force (DAF). In this role, you will manage the lifecycle of Technical Orders (TOs) and Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs), contributing to essential documentation for various Air Force programs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Publication Lifecycle Management: Oversee the lifecycle management of AFLCMC/The Government Program Office Project Managers technical publications in accordance with established guidelines.
  2. Documentation Development: Develop up to 100 fifty-page TOs and 400 eight-page TCTOs per contract year. Participate in Technical Order Development Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to review, proofread, and edit TOs.
  3. Editorial Duties: Incorporate feedback during in-process reviews and prepare TOs for publication, including formatting in Standard Graphics Markup Language (SGML). Maintain and update the The Government Program Office Project Managers TO Template/Framework as directed.
  4. Compliance and Reporting: Generate and maintain a TCTO Compliance Matrix to report completion statuses by organizational units. Track and report on compliance dates related to Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs).
  5. Vulnerability Analysis: Analyze and validate vulnerabilities to determine applicability to DAF systems/networks, providing monthly summaries of findings. Support the Government ITF Manager in TCTO development and collaborate with third-party agencies.
  6. Quality Assurance: Review drafts of manuscripts and recommend changes to enhance clarity and accuracy. Refine the work of other writers, overseeing their activities and ensuring adherence to technical specifications.

Required Skills, Education, and Experience:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, or a related field.
  2. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience, with a preference for DoD program involvement.
  3. Technical Skills: Familiarity with PTC Arbortext and the TO development process.
  4. Certifications: ITIL Foundation v3 or higher. Certified Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II. At least one of the following: Network+, A+, Server+, Cloud+, Linux+ (Network+, Server+, or Cloud+ preferred), PCNSA, CCNA (Security or Routing & Switching), JNCIA-Junos, VMware VCP-DCV, RHCSA, MCSA or equivalent, CYSA+ or CASP+.
  5. Security Clearance: A valid DoD Secret clearance is mandatory. NATO Secret and/or DoD Top Secret/SSBI clearances, adjudicated for SCI eligibility, may be required depending on location.
