At the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU), we have an opening for a Graphic Designer within the Communications and Learning Solutions division.
We see graphic design as visual storytelling that engages, informs, and inspires. We're looking for a talented graphic designer who can take concepts and ideas and create visual representations in both print and digital media. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of current design software and be skilled in every step of the design process, from concept to final deliverable. Collaborating with multiple teams across the organization, the graphic designer should be able to take written or spoken ideas and convert them into a design that connects. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of branding and marketing and be able to find the right style and layout for every project.

Anticipated start date: Upon conclusion of the hiring process
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7.5 hours per day, 260 days per year (12-month position)
Work Hours: 8am-4pm
Exempt Status: Exempt position

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Graphic Design, Advertising, or other related field required.
- Minimum of three years work experience preferred.
- Must have exemplary customer service skills and the ability to work with people both inside and outside of the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal with stressful interpersonal situations, both face to face and on the telephone, in a courteous and responsible manner at all times.
- Strong design skills with specific attention to detail and a consistent approach to fresh ideas.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member of the Communications, Marketing & Engagement division to solve problems.
- Must be computer literate (Word, Excel, Keystone) with a desire to learn new software and art skills as needs arise.
- Must have knowledge of Mac operating system and the following software programs:
- Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat)
- Canva
- Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Microsoft Outlook
- Digital software knowledge is a plus
- HTML/CSS web design experience also a plus
- Self-motivated and proactive, with an ability to take direction.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Knowledgeable of printing and production processes.
- Digital photography skills a plus.
- Current child abuse, criminal history, and FBI clearances required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with multiple teams or clients on a wide range of materials that may include web pages, presentations, programming collateral, signage, internal communications, newsletters, and marketing materials.
- Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity.
- Develop concepts by hand or with software, and execute original content by determining the ideal usage of color, text, font style, imagery, and layout.
- Obtain input from managers to ensure that designs meet organizational standards and brand expectations, express ideas accurately, and represent the company or client appropriately.
- Manage the design process and complete projects by coordinating with outside services, printers, internal team members, etc., ensuring timelines/deadlines are met.
- Keep up-to-date on all software updates and practices so as to become proficient in required programs.
- Foster a positive attitude and work environment.
- Perform other duties for the Communications and Marketing & Engagement Departments as required.
Salary Range (Placement on salary scale dependent upon years of experience in similar role):
2023-2024 Annual salary range: $55,962-$69,952
