This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.
Salary/Pay Range : $41,042 - $52,957 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications.
Summary
The Faculty Resource Center is currently seeking applications for a Media Production Specialist. The primary purpose of this position is to support the media production needs of online programs/courses developed by the Faculty Resource Center. This position will work collaboratively with Instructional Designers, Faculty, Media Services Team, and other stakeholders to identify and utilize media technologies that enhance learning in online courses; provide video recording, production, and post-production support for online programs; keep current with and recommend technological options to support educational video and media production; and oversee student workers in video production and other media creation. This position will also assist Instructional Designers to ensure course materials meet captioning standards and other Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements for accessibility. The Media Production Specialist will work with the Faculty Resource Center staff as well as personnel from other units. This position will report to the Director of the Faculty Resource Center.
Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- With guidance from the Faculty Resource Center, coordinates pre-production of online course media, including clarifying the subject matter and communication objectives; developing the production plan; arranging for location, equipment, and crews; developing production and shooting schedules; and rehearsing shoots.
- Coordinates the post-production of audio and visual programs and series, including editing and adding postproduction attributes such as digital animation, electronic graphics, or other audio/visual special effects.
- Utilizes established quality control and aesthetic standards to evaluate media production projects and revises as needed to ensure high quality final products.
- Evaluates and analyzes current educational video editing and media creation technologies and conducts research on emerging technologies to ensure that media production is technologically current and competitive.
- Other duties as assigned.
Tentative Search Timeline
- Priority will be given to applications submitted by: October 30th, 2024.
- Potential interview dates: November 4th, 2024 - November 8th, 2024.
- Potential start date: January 2nd, 2024.
Qualifications
- To qualify for the position applicants must have a completed Associate's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution, preferably in a field related to video production and editing. (Year-for-year experience will be considered as a substitution for the degree.)
- Experience in video editing, television production, media development, and/or instructional technology is required.
- Qualified applicants will have experience with video recording techniques and video editing software tools.
- Experience developing accessible, ADA-compliant training materials if preferred.
- The ideal applicant will have experience in developing and designing interactive educational products using a wide spectrum of current educational technologies.
- Experience working with a variety of web conferencing and virtual presentation tools is considered a plus.
- Applicants with experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Articulate 360, and/or other industry prominent media creation tools will be considered highly qualified.
- Experience with learning managing systems (i.e., Canvas, Blackboard, etc.) to create and manage online courses, user accounts, course settings, and enrollment options is also preferred.
