Job Description

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the creation of newscasts and other news programs as needed
  2. Work directly with Senior Producer, Anchors, MMJ’s and production crews
  3. Execute Live Shots and Satellite Remotes during live newscasts
  4. Select, assign, write and organize news stories
  5. Respond to breaking news with urgency and accuracy
  6. Run the newscast in the control room
  7. Maintain an on-going breaking news story on the air
  8. Coordinate and plan future community and social story development
  9. Work with Multi-Media Journalists to improve story and presentation
  10. Edit video clips
  11. Write news scripts, promotional teasers, headlines and topicals
  12. Serve as a back-up producer for other station newscasts or special programs
  13. Work closely with Senior Producer and News Director on story/sweeps planning and coordination
  14. Be a key communicator in the newsroom, talking with each person who will participate or provide content for that newscast (i.e. News Director, Senior Producer, Anchors, Digital, MMJ's and production crews).
  15. Understand newscast mission, station priorities and be familiar with all the platforms.
  16. Stay knowledgeable on daily news events, past news events, and current news in the market.
  17. Understand and follow all Telemundo Las Vegas News and NBC standards and ethics.

Qualifications:

Qualifications/Requirements

  1. BA or BS in Journalism or related field
  2. 1 to 4 years producing live television broadcasts
  3. Excellent news judgment, creative ideas and writing skills a must
  4. Fluent in Spanish and able to speak, read and understand English
  5. Must have leadership qualities, be detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle intense deadline pressure

  7. Willingness to work in Las Vegas area and travel as needed for special assignments
  8. Willingness to work long hours, varying shifts (including nights and weekends) and report to work in emergencies depending upon news coverage
  9. Unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  10. Must be 18 years or older
  11. Valid driver’s license
  12. Provide a reel/portfolio of work examples, including a web address when submitting a resume (if applicable)
