Enjoy reading aloud and empowering others?

The Audio Reading Service's target audience is listeners of all ages who have visual, physical, learning, or language challenges to reading traditional print. Articles are read and recorded in our studios.

We broadcast the recorded readings of news and information from over 68 publications such as Fort Wayne Business News, Prevention, People, The Advocate, El Mexicano, Consumer Reports, Rolling Stone, The Atlantic, and The New Yorker.

We have several opportunities available for volunteers:

  1. Area News: Read community newspapers from hard copy and from a tablet every other Friday from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm.

  2. Spotlight on Sports: Read news about celebrity athletes, college and professional sports teams, and articles about great sports moments from Sports Illustrated and USA Today Sports Weekly. This program is read from hardcopy and a tablet. We can work with your schedule for a 90-minute time and day to read, weekly.

  3. Business News: Help listeners stay on top of the ever-changing world of business, locally and regionally, by reading from the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly. This program is read from hardcopy. We can work with your schedule for a 90-minute time and day to read, weekly.

We enhance the lives of our listeners!

If your skills and passions match our needs, we’d love to have you join our audio reading team of ACPL volunteers! An interview and audition are required.

Volunteers should be between the ages of 18 and 99.
