Posting Summary
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution located in Newark, New Jersey, is seeking a Visual Arts Coordinator reporting to Salamishah Tillet. This position will support the Visual Arts Director in daily tasks, including but not limited to maintaining the Visual Arts Studio, community outreach projects, and operating equipment.
Responsibilities
- Maintains the lab equipment and space to ensure optimal functionality.
- Assists with classroom instruction and provides technical support and design guidance to students/users of all ages.
Position Status
Part Time
Hours Per Week: 19.5
Daily Work Shift: Day
Work Arrangement: Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.
FLSA: Nonexempt
Position Salary: $25 - $30 per hour
Terms of Appointment: Temporary Staff Appointment - Hourly
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Requires up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field (graphic design, new media, digital design, engineering, or sculpture), and comprehensive knowledge of digital design and manufacturing processes.
- Requires a minimum of two years’ experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.
- Must have the ability to operate and maintain manufacturing equipment (including 3D printers and laser-cutter), and to apply finishing processes to items/products produced for users (academic, community partners, the public, and course work).
- Must be able to run workshops and interface with the public.
