Job SummaryThe Office of Communications and Marketing within the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering is seeking to hire a communications and marketing student writer. The student writer will assist with various writing projects for both digital and print platforms, including the Auburn Engineer Magazine, the Auburn Engineering Dean's Report, newsletters, brochures, and other marketing pieces. Applicants should be undergraduate students majoring in journalism, communication, public relations, or a related field. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build a professional portfolio.
Essential Functions
  • Conduct interviews with engineering students, faculty, staff, and alumni
  • Write news and feature stories, Q&A and other content for print publications and the web
  • Assist with marketing and communication plans to promote the vision, mission, goals, and achievements of the College of Engineering
  • May assist with the website, photography, and videography depending on the student's comfort level
Minimum QualificationsCurrently enrolled student at Auburn University. Expectation: Knowledge of writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Sophomore, junior, or senior with solid storytelling skills
  • An excellent command of the English language
  • Knowledge of AP Style and the inverted pyramid concept
Pay Rate$11.00/hour
Work Hours15-20
