Summary: Serve as Chief, Medical Media Service, for the VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System, a lC-level facility, which consists of five locations, including a medical center and four outpatient clinics. Support the mission of the medical facility and VISN 16 by furnishing a full range of photographic, audiovisual, graphic, communications, and library services for medical care, medical and dental education, allied and associated health care education, research, and employee/public affairs programs.
Responsibilities:
- Direct work assignments and review completed work by assigning specific television production, graphic, and photographic requests to subordinates and evaluating their performance.
- Apply a broad knowledge of the production and editing aspects of television productions, relying on extensive producing and directing experience.
- Evaluate the use of television production techniques by subordinates, providing guidance and making decisions in technical and administrative matters.
- Master methods, techniques, and practices associated with the development and/or management of original video/photo/graphic productions, video teleconferencing, and medical libraries.
- Oversee all aspects of personnel management, production, and support, ensuring guidelines and established practices are followed, quality standards are met, and projects are completed timely.
- Direct the preparation, administration, and justification of electronic library budget requests for eight medical centers and the VISN office.
- Collaborate in planning sessions with clients and subject matter experts, coordinating with VISN, Regional Public Affairs Officer (PAO), and central office staff.
- Conduct final production reviews for proper use of established techniques and evidence of high creative ability in communicating information.
- Plan and manage all production aspects of major projects based on various cultural, technological, or historical themes.
- Advise on or develop scripts, direct effective communication methods, and develop cost estimates for production.
- Oversee the production of programming for distribution via web, tape, DVD, and other media.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, subject to change based on the needs of the Agency.
