Responsible for collaborating closely with other designers and developers to deliver engaging communication solutions that shape how team members connect with the company.

This role is a part of our Digital Engagement team within the our Corporate Communications group.
What you'll do

Collaborates with the team to develop innovative and engaging digital experiences that incorporate digital best practices and align with business goals

Uses innovative design styles that enhance the end user experience

Provides strategic recommendations on new and interesting ways to drive web engagement

Deploys content from various content management systems utilizing CSS/HTML skills
-
Helps lead usability testing and research; translates findings into functional improvements

Embraces challenges and always be looking for ways to improve the product

Champions American’s internal visual design and brand standards and maintains consistency and ease of use across all internal platforms

Embraces the creative process through discovery; explores and creates conceptual models, flows, sitemaps, and navigation schemes

Seeks new ways to innovate and accomplishes communication goals
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, design, marketing or relevant field or equivalent experience/training
-
3+ years of experience in developing engaging web-based interfaces
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Master's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
-
Knowledge of visual design including screen layouts, information design, motion graphics and typography

Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, HTML5, XHTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, jQuery Mobile, SQL, AJAX, and PHP and demonstrated web design skills

Knowledge of responsive/adaptive design techniques

Ability to collaborate with other designers

Ability to manage a web design project from initial concepts to implementation

Knowledge of user testing to inform design and development
-
Ability to organize large amounts of content to deliver user interfaces that are meaningful and easy to use/navigate

Ability to perform in an Agile based, fast paced iterative environment

Knowledge of social business or enterprise social collaboration platforms such as Lithium, Jive/Aurea, Yammer, SharePoint, or Salesforce.com communities

Ability to give detailed attention to typography, color, imagery, motion, and graphic elements
